Sarah Weber Langlois
Ms. Langlois maintains an active litigation practice and handles a variety of school law, employment law, general commercial litigation, and insurance matters.
Ms. Langlois's recent experience includes: successfully representing school districts in teacher termination, nonrenewal, and grievance hearings; assisting school districts with reductions in force; successfully filing and arguing motions for summary judgment on ERISA preemption; drafting election documents for trustee elections and filing Section 5 Voting Rights Act submissions to the Department of Justice; responding to EEOC charges of race, sex, age, and disability discrimination and sexual harassment; and conducting trainings for employees on various subjects, including governance, procurement, discipline and documentation, FERPA, sexual harassment, counseling, use of force, and abuse and neglect. Ms. Langlois regularly counsels clients in contract negotiations, procurement laws, Open Meetings Act and Texas Public Information Act compliance, and employment law matters, including the Family Medical Leave Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act. Ms. Langlois also conducts and assists employers with investigations of employee misconduct. Ms. Langlois assists clients with intellectual property matters, including registration of trademarks and copyrights as well as infringement matters.
Ms. Langlois earned the distinction of Texas Rising Star by Texas Law & Politics Magazine in schools and education in 2010 and 2011. She is a member of State Bar of Texas School Law Section and Labor and Employment Law Section, the Houston Bar Association, the HBA Labor and Employment Law Section, the Houston Young Lawyers Association, the Texas Council of School Attorneys, and the National School Boards Association Council of School Attorneys. Ms. Langlois also serves as co-chair of the School Law Section of the State Bar's Annual Retreat. Ms. Langlois is also a member of the Rotary Club of Houston and has served as co-chair of the Youth and Education Committee. She serves on the Board of the Association of Women Attorneys and is treasurer of the organization for 2011-2012. She is an active volunteer with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and serves on the Magazine committee.
Ms. Langlois graduated first in her class at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and was an editor of the Loyola Law Review, member of the National Moot Court Team, and a William Crowe Scholar. Her comment, Dismantling the Dictated Moral Code: Modifying Louisiana's In Vitro Fertilization Statutes to Protect Patients' Procreative Liberty, was published in the Loyola Law Review in January 2005. Prior to joining Ogden, Gibson, Broocks, Longoria & Hall, L.L.P., Ms. Langlois was an associate with McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore, LLP.
