Lena Liddell Engel
Ms. Engel focuses her practice on general commercial litigation, with an emphasis on school law, employment law, public access law, and creditors' rights.
Ms. Engel's recent experience includes: counseling school districts regarding legal issues in administration, labor and employment, procurement, and Open Meetings Act and Texas Public Information Act compliance; conducting trainings for employees on employment matters; responding to EEOC charges related to discrimination and retaliation; representing creditors and financial services companies in breach of contract and collections matters; and advising businesses regarding compliance with governmental regulations, including Medicare Secondary Payer obligations and business personal property tax requirements.
Ms. Engel is a member of the Houston Bar Association, including the Litigation and Labor and Employment Sections, the Texas Council of School Attorneys, the Houston Young Lawyers Association, and the Association of Women Attorneys. Ms. Engel also serves as Professional Development Chair on the Steering Committee of the Houston Downtown Alliance-Emerging Leaders, one of Houston's largest young professionals groups. In addition, Ms. Engel participates in Houston Young People for the Arts and Houston Grand Opera's "Opening Nights" for Young Professionals.
Ms. Engel has extensive experience in business and project management, having worked for seven years in both national and multinational corporations before obtaining her Juris Doctorate. During her time at South Texas College of Law, Ms. Engel was a Langdell Scholar and received First Place and Best Brief awards at the Spurgeon Bell Moot Court Competition.
Prior to joining Ogden, Gibson, Broocks, Longoria & Hall, L.L.P., Ms. Engel was an associate of McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore, L.L.P. in Houston, Texas.
